TRREE-for Africa is a web-based training and capacity building initiative on the ethics of research involving humans conducted in Africa countries. TRREE stands for Training and Resources in Research Ethics Evaluation, is a consortium of partners from Cameroon, Canada, Germany, Mali, Nigeria, South Africa, Switzerland and Tanzania working together for the promotion of high-quality research and the protection of research participants in Africa. The main objective of the project is to provide online and CD-ROM training modules and other resources in research ethics evaluation to develop the knowledge and know-how of those involved in the management and conduct of ethical reviews and research partnerships.
TRREE for Africa has three general objectives: First, to increase knowledge as well as practical skills of those involved in the management and conduct of ethics evaluation and research partnerships.
Second, to create a participatory process that will nourish lasting partnerships with and amongst African partners.
Third, to create a resource that will facilitate the dissemination of knowledge in European and African countries. Overall, this will strengthen the research ethics evaluation capacities in African countries.
